Launceston’s dirty blues duo GUTHRIE are heading home to The Royal Oak this weekend. The pair will set up camp in the front bar from 9pm. And yes – front bar, which means free entry. Catch ‘em there on Saturday night.
Singer-songwriter JOSH PYKE is in the state this weekend. Pyke is touring across the country for his But For All These Shrinking Hearts tour. You can see Pyke in three Tassie shows. On Thursday night, he’ll be at Devonport at the Tapas Lounge Bar. His Launceston show will be on Friday at Country Club Tasmania, and he’ll play Hobart’s Waratah Hotel on Saturday night. Tickets are between $34 and $38 – you can find all the relevant links at joshpyke.com/shows
After a hectic year off stage, THE EMBERS are ready to get back into the gigging spirit. The funky five-piece will play at Launceston’s Club 54 on Saturday, from 9pm. They’ll be supported by Turbulence, and Elliot Courtnage. Entry is $5.
If you find yourself in the South this weekend, why not have a good time for a good cause? The Homestead in Hobart is hosting DELUGE – a fundraiser to support those affected by the recent Tasmanian floods. The night is all about good dance moves and good vibes, with a boogie-heavy line-up of DJs in Do Little, Dom, Kireesh, Psywise, and Grommet. It’s on from 9pm on Friday, an entry is $10.
It’s time to look ahead. Australia hip-hop artist SETH SENTRY sees his 1969 Campaign Trail bring him to our lovely state. Sentry will play two shows – the first at Club 54 in Launceston on August 5, and at Hobart’s Uni Bar the next night. Tickets for both shows are available through Oztix for $44.40.
Long-time Australian artist JEFF LANG is in the state next month. Lang is releasing and showcasing his latest: a limited edition vinyl, Rarities. It’s released via the French-based Red Hair Records. Why through a French company, you ask? You’ll have to attend a show to find out. See Lang at the Royal Oak in Launceston on August 11, the Palais Theatre in Franklin on August 12, and at the Republic Bar in Hobart on August 13. See jefflang.com.au
