President Red Phillips said the merger between Beaconsfield and Beauty Point football clubs in 1989 still “upsets some”, but all-in-all it had been a successful quarter century.
“We won a premiership in 1993, 2003 and a reserves flag coached by Tim Blair in 1992,” Phillips said.
“We are expecting anywhere from 100 to 150 people to celebrate.”
Foundation president Ian Beams said it was a fantastic achievement for the club to win a flag three years after forming. Phillips said all past players, officials, supporters are invited to join the festivities during and after the game. Post match, the club will unveil a team of the quarter century along with a team for both the 1990s and 2000s, with live music to follow.
Former Essendon and Richmond midfielder Sam Lonergan will return to his grassroots along with several past players from interstate.
