The 23-year-old, goal attack, has been part of five state league premierships for the club in both 19 and unders and opens.
Gibson played 74 games for Cavaliers in the 19 and unders including being part of four consecutive premiership teams from 2009-2012 and has racked up 76 open games with one premiership in her first year at senior level in 2013.
“It’s really a shock to be honest because although in football and such they keep track of milestone games, in netball you kind of turn up to play each week and don’t keep track where you are at within your netball career,” Gibson said.
“But I am really excited and clearly have been around the club for a very long time.”
The former Scotch Oakburn student is in the final year of a primary teaching degree at university and is captaining the open team for the first time this season.
“I captained the 19s and unders for the last two years I was there in 2011-12, but this is the first time for seniors so that was a bit exciting when I found out that,” she said.
“I play netball because I love turning up to training each week and trying to better myself and I probably don’t see myself as captain in the team but rather someone who has that voice when other people struggle to find theirs.”
Gibson started playing netball in grade 5 and juggled basketball and netball representation for quite a few years before deciding to specialise and pursue netball.

“I always thought basketball would be my chosen path but I went away for basketball and netball in the same year and I loved my netball trip so much more than my basketball one so I after that I went down the netball path.
“I have played in state teams at under-15 and under-17 level and then in the ANL team.”
Cavaliers have lost some experienced players this state league season and are rebuilding.
“We are a very young side this year and lost pretty much all of our defence end from last year.
“They were very experienced players which was disappointing but also exciting at the same time because we have lots of young players coming through.
“We are doing really well and the thing that we need to work on is finding that consistency – we have really good games and then games where we lapse so it is just finding that consistency to play good netball each week.”
