Some of the game’s most decorated and dedicated servants were bestowed the honour during an at times emotional presentation dinner at Country Club Tasmania.
Among the recipients were Longford 400-gamer Brendan Jones, Deloraine clubman Beth Woods, Meander Valley great John Gray, Evandale champion Michael Rigby, City-South’s Graeme Wilkinson and Bracknell’s Maurice Jordan, plus many more.
NTFA president Ian Morrison said it was a fantastic event and true reward for those awarded.
“The honour of these presentations is not taken lightly and the respect it commands is just reward for these individuals,” Morrison said.
“To get to this level and honour these individuals have shown and demonstrated outstanding attributes in compassing playing, supporting, administration and promotion of our game.
“Many of the recipients praised and thanked the many volunteers and their individual clubs for assisting them over a long period of time to reach this level.”
The NTFA held a raffle at the function and raised about $1400 for the Deloraine Football Club, which suffered an estimated $100,000 damage during Tasmania’s floods a fortnight ago.
Evandale donated a Darrel Baldock print for the major prize to assist the Kangaroos.
Deloraine president Shaun Donohue thanked all those for their support and that the club was getting back on track.
“It was overwhelming,” he said.
“The money will help us buy some footies that we lost and stock to get us back up and going.
“Most of the damage is covered by insurance, the council have been fantastic and Bunnings have offered to replace our carpet.”
He said the club was confident that the ground would be available for their round 11 clash with Longford on Saturday.
