The 20-year-olds – Kade for Gold Coast and Jake for Geelong – haven’t had the chance to play against one another since the Cats defender debuted in round 12 last year.
The allure of the Kolodjashnijs running out onto Simonds Stadium in different colours headlines round-six Tasmanian inclusions of which two first-year players will debut at the weekend
Kade Kolodjashnij will join forces with Tasmanian teammate Mackenzie Wills for the match at Geelong in a further boost for the game in the state.
Wills, a 20-year-old from TSL club Tigers, was selected pick 52 in the AFL national draft last season.
Hawthorn has brought in diminutive midfielder Kieran Lovell, also drafted from the Tigers in Kingborough at pick 22, for the clash against GWS Giants in Sydney.
Jake Kolodjashnij was expected to be recalled had Cats veteran Tom Lonergan not been passed fit.
The full back was given the all clear, but the Cats decided to drop Corey Gregson that ensured the twin brothers finally faced off for premiership points in Geelong.
The former Launceston Blues clashed previously during a low-key NAB Challenge preseason match in Townsville nearly 14 months ago.
The two clubs had met in round 3 last year and round 14 in 2014 since the Kolodjashnijs were both drafted in 2013, Kade at selection five and Jake at 41.
Essendon has meanwhile overlooked Nathan Grima for his first game since crossing from North Melbourne as one of the club’s top-up players for ASADA-banned Bombers.
Grima’s name had crossed the selection table this week after the one-time Evandale junior held Collingwood forward Travis Cloke to just two goals in the Magpie’s much publicised axing to the VFL last weekend.
