The Blues have a healthy list of talented youth, which at 21 years, Smith is very much a part of.
He joined Launceston at the age of 16 and was part of Tasmania’s 2013 division 2 AFL under-18 championship-winning team.
The 184-centimetre midfielder wants to taste that feeling as a Blue.
“We want to make finals, keep improving as a group and I am confident we can get there,” Smith said.
“I am keen to continue to play my role in the team.”
Smith is coming off a good performance against Devonport and is keen to tackle Lauderdale at Windsor Park on Anzac Day.
“It is an honour and it definitely puts a bit of fire in the belly knowing what you're respecting and why you’re respecting,” the former St Patrick's College student said.
Smith has won multiple junior awards and was the club’s 2015 McAuley Medalist – awarded to the seniors best and fairest player.
