The Thunder trailed for all of the game and struggled to reproduce the form they showed the previous night in the 10-point win over Bendigo.
The Thunder has struggled for consistency all season and last night was another example of it.
Although import Fred Harvey shot a match-high 34 points the Thunder failed to provide him with much support except for Nathan Wilson who contributed 20 points.
Co-import Garrett Jackson had a really quiet night shooting just eight points in his 26 minutes on the court.
The Thunder went into the game full of confidence after gaining captain Nick Haywood overnight.
Haywood had missed the game against Bendigo because of his commitments as coach of the Tasmanian girl's team at the national under 16 carnival in Ulverstone but he was able to gain a release and flew to Victoria to join the Thunder for the clash with Dandenong.
Haywood played his part shooting six points and being involved in six assists for his team.
Despite the loss the Thunder remain in contention for a play-off position next month.
In a rostering oddity they will be at home to Bendigo next Saturday night meaning they will have played the Braves twice in a week.
Australian under 19 representative Kyle Clark should be available for the Thunder.
