The Launceston 20-year-old has not been seen since leaving a party in Perth almost a fortnight ago.
A land, river and air search, with Tasmania Police drones, has failed to turn up any trace of the the bartender. His bank accounts remain untouched.
The only sign of Mr Plowright has been the use of his mobile phone in the hours after leaving the party.
On Tuesday police suspended the search until further information surfaced.
His mother Ruth said it was an extremely difficult time for the family but they remained hopeful.
‘‘We’re hanging in there and we’re being positive and hoping that we can find Ben,’’ she said.
‘‘If any members of the public have seen him ... please get in touch with police.’’
The officer in charge of the investigation, Deloraine Inspector Scott Flude, said he believed Mr Plowright was still in close proximity to the Perth region.
Inspector Flude urged landowners in the area to check places on their properties that Mr Plowright could be.
He said there were no signs that anything sinister had happened.
Mr Plowright was last seen leaving a party in Arthur Street, Perth, on Saturday, May 30 about 9pm.
At the time he was affected by alcohol and it’s believed he set out on foot to Launceston via the train tracks area in Perth.
Police first raised the alarm about his disappearance on Friday.
The search was ramped up on Sunday when 30 people, including family, police and the State Emergency Service, canvassed the area around Mill Road, Perth.
On Monday two police kayakers spent more than three hours scanning a six-kilometre stretch of the South Esk River at Perth.
Police drones were used to give a birdseye view of the region.
None of the searches turned up any clues.
Mr Plowright is 175cm tall, slim with brown hair. He has olive skin and is of Thai descent. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a grey hooded jumper and bright coloured converse shoes. He wears glasses regularly.
He is a casual employee at Launceston’s Charles Street Coles and Hotel New York.
