Co-ordinated by the island's peak wine body, Wine Tasmania, a range of wineries hosted vineyard visits, themed tastings, varietal masterclasses and dinners to provide an immersive experience and educational program.
Led by consultant and former UK head of Wine Australia, Hazel Murphy, the visit coincided with a weakening Australian dollar, which has helped local wine producers capitalise on renewed interest in the UK.
Senior buyer at Cru Abigail Friedman said the trip had revealed the wealth of premium, cool climate wines being made on the island, many of which would work well on UK shelves.
"Visiting Tasmania has demonstrated the vast range of elegant, classy reds and whites being produced there," Ms Friedman said.
Wine Tasmania chief executive Sheralee Davies said the visit was expected to generate positive outcomes for Tasmanian wine producers in the UK market.
