De Winter had been responsible for mentoring Australia’s bowlers in the shorter forms of cricket, but his role has now been absorbed by Craig McDermott.
De Winter, 46, played for Tasmania from 1986 to 1993 and, following his retirement from the field, pursued a coaching career.
In 2002, he coached the Tasmanian Tigers under 19 team and, the following year, was employed by the Western Australian Cricket Association as a state development coach.
Two years later, he took up a position as head coach of the Bangladesh national cricket academy and took the country’s under 19 team to fifth place at the 2006 World Cup.
He became involved with Cricket Australia in 2012 under national coach Mickey Arthur.
Australia’s team performance manger Pat Howard confirmed de Winter was no longer working with the team.
‘‘He played a valuable role supporting our bowlers from 2012. He finished on very good terms and the door remains open to him working with us again in the future,’’ Howard said.
De Winter said he was pursuing opportunities in a number of areas, including cricket.
He has also been involved with the coaching staff of the Hobart Hurricanes in the BBL.
