State soccer chief's shock resignation

Football Federation Tasmania has announced the shock resignation of chief executive Richard Welsh less than six months into the job.

In a statement, president Sean Collins thanked Welsh for his contributions to the organisation on behalf of the board and wished him well for the future.

``An interim CEO will be appointed while the recruitment process proceeds,'' the three sentence statement ended.

Welsh, who moved to FFT from Athletics Tasmania, started in the role in November last year.
