Show publicity officer Jo Dowling said that farmers had only until Friday, April 18, to get their entries to show secretary Julie Bingley. Ms Dowling said that a changing of the guard in the sheep ring had seen Frank Archer become chief sheep steward.
"Frank has just won and completed an Australian Wool Innovations leadership program, conducted in South Australia - he works for the Morrisons at Pisa at the moment and is a young and upcoming person in the wool industry," Ms Dowling said.
Mr Archer said that he had worked with sheep on farms for most of his life and had been to nearly every Campbell Town show since he was a kid.
"I went away jackarooing in New South Wales for two years and before that, when I was at school, I used to help Andrew Calvert showing the sheep," Mr Archer said.
"I'm taking over from Sam Burbury, who was chief steward for about 10 years and probably reckons he's done his bit.
"I'd like to see more young people becoming involved in showing and the administration side, and would like to see more Tasmanian exhibitors.
"There are a lot more mainland exhibitors coming down now, which is great and a real vote of confidence in the show, but it would be good if we could attract a few more entries from down here."
Mr Archer was associate judge at the show last year and said that Mr Burbury would be there for the first year so show him the ropes.
Show schedules are available on the website www.campbelltownshow.com.au - entry inquiries should be directed to Ms Bingley on 0419 277 773.
