Rowing Tasmania development officer Rob Prescott said the independent schools' competition featured consistently close races.
Scotch Oakburn College lost by about a quarter of a boat length to Hobart rivals, Hutchins School, in the boys eights.
Friends School and St Patrick's College came third and fourth respectively.
"Boys eights were very close for the whole length of the 2000-metre course," Prescott said.
Prescott said the Grammar girls rowed a fantastic race from start to finish.
"It was also very close, about a quarter of a boat in it," he said.
St Michael's Collegiate came second, followed by Fahan School and Friends School.
More than 8000 people attended the event in the North-West, which featured 81 races, made up mostly of girls teams.
Prescott particularly commended the Friends under- 16 girls eights.
"All the racing was done in good spirit and with good sportsmanship," he said.
Next weekend the Tasmanian Schools Championship will be rowed at Lake Barrington.
