She has worked in the shearing industry, both in Tasmania and interstate, was a Prison Officer for 5 years and has also worked for the Tasmanian Ombudsman, in particular as a part of the Review into Abuse of Children in State Care. Most recently she has worked for State and Federal members of Parliament.
A long-time Union member and advocate for workers’ rights, Sharon has been a workplace delegate and campaigner for the rights of workers and has also worked for the CFMEU.
Sharon is proud to be the first ever Labor endorsed candidate to be elected to Local Government in Tasmania when she was elected to Glenorchy City Council as an Alderman in 2011. She has worked hard to improve issues such as public safety, and advocated for the installation of CCTV and better street lighting (both funded by the Federal Government).
Sharon is engaged in her local community as a member of the Moonah Business Community Inc, and the West Moonah Community House Board of Management. She also volunteers at local primary school Breakfast Clubs and as a reading tutor.
