Mowbray will resume at 8-87 still 16 runs short of claiming a first innings victory over top team Westbury while South Launceston needs 74 runs to overhaul Riverside with four wickets left.
In the other game George Town faces the daunting task of trying to overhaul Launceston's 319.
MOWBRAY 8-87 (resuming) v WESTBURY 102.
Mowbray captain John Le Fevre is confident overnight batsmen Connor Lockhart and Justin Reeves can provide a partnership to overhaul Westbury.
``It is a matter of them putting bat on ball,'' he said.
Lockhart resumes on 12 while Reeves is yet to open his account after coming to the wicket just before stumps last week.
He replaced Liam Reynolds who top scored for Mowbray and put it in a position for first innings points.
James Storay and Simon Anchor are the Mowbray batsmen still to come to the crease.
Le Fevre said that whatever the outcome he expected Westbury to be batting after lunch and it opened up the possibilities of the game's outcome.
RIVERSIDE 145 v SOUTH LAUNCESTON 6-72.
Plenty will rest on the shoulders of South Launceston captain Sean Harris when the game resumes at the NTCA No 2 ground.
Harris is 30 not out and is involved in a 16-run partnership with Ben Austen as they resume the 74-run chase to overhaul Riverside.
``We have plenty of time left and the challenge is there for Ben and I to be pretty solid for the first hour of play,'' Harris said.
``It is important for us to occupy the crease and aim for first innings points.''
Harris said the wicket had appeared difficult when the ball was new but then settled down and he was confident of making the runs.
He said it was an important game for South Launceston with points crucial as the season draws to an end.
There is little separating teams in the middle of the ladder and with just three games left after tomorrow every win is important.
GEORGE TOWN 1-22 (resuming) v LAUNCESTON 319
George Town captain Rohan Pooley has no doubt his team has the batting talent to hunt down Launceston's imposing total of 319 it is the application to the task that is his main concern.
``We have plenty of depth in our batting and it is a good wicket,'' he said.
Pooley will resume the George Town innings with opener Scott Semmens after the Saints lost Marshall Pooley just before stumps last Saturday.
``Hopefully Scott and myself can get through the first hour or so and the game will open up,'' he said.
The batsmen to come for George Town include English import Harry Bolland, Scott Driessen and youngster Zac Barber.
