From Wednesday to Saturday, 32 championship titles will be decided across the elite and under 19 events in the sprint, team sprint, keirin, time trial, team and individual pursuits, scratch and points races, plus the madison (under 19 men).
In the women's sprint competition, watch out for the Triple M trio of Meares, McCulloch and Morton, who since 2007 have claimed all but two of 21 individual sprint events on offer (sprint, time trial and keirin).
Six-time national and reigning Olympic and Commonwealth sprint champion Anna Meares (SA) is back after taking a break during last year's nationals.
Last month the 29-time national champion became the first woman in history to break the 33-second barrier in the women's 500m time trial at the UCI Track World Cup.
Triple reigning national champion Steph Morton (SA) will be eager to defend her sprint, keirin and team sprint titles, with 2013 time trial and two-time sprint gold medallist Kaarle McCulloch (NSW) looking to reclaim top spot.
Ready for their chance to take over is the Triple T team of 19-year old Taylah Jennings (Qld), plus the 2013 junior team sprint world champion duo of Tian Beckett (WA) and Tenille Falappi (Qld), who both make their debut in the elite ranks.
The women's endurance event is also expected to be fierce, with a superb lineup led by the five-time reigning national champion Annette Edmondson (SA), who opened her 2014 nationals account last December by claiming the madison and omnium titles in Melbourne.
The 22-year-old will be keen to defend her scratch, points and individual pursuit crowns in Adelaide, but a long line of riders will be trying to loosen Edmondson's stranglehold on the individual events.
They include Amy Cure (Tas) and Melissa Hoskins (WA), who teamed with Edmondson to win the team pursuit silver medal at the 2013 UCI World Championships, plus 2012 scratch national champion and recent UCI Track World Cup medallist Bella King (WA).
Others expected to challenge include Mexico Track World Cup gold medallist Rebecca Wiasak (ACT), former world and national champion Ashlee Ankudinoff (NSW) and reigning criterium national champion Sarah Roy (NSW).
In the women's team pursuit, all eyes will be on Western Australia as they look to claim their seventh consecutive title in the event, which expands to four riders and 4000m for the first time in nationals history.
In the under-19 events, reigning junior world champions Jack Edwards (NSW), Sam Welsford (WA), Callum Scotson (SA) and Lauren Perry (Tas) will be sporting their rainbow jerseys and will be joined by world championship medallists Macey Stewart (Tas) and Josie Talbot (NSW).
