The Twenty20 match under lights at the state's newest cricket venue on January 30 has already attracted the 38-year-old former Test captain's international teammates Adam Gilchrist, Justin Langer, Andrew Symonds and Ian Healy.
Richmond's Tasmanian Coleman medallist Jack Riewoldt and Ponting's fellow former Brooks High graduate Daniel Geale have also been confirmed as having a role, while the state's AFL tenants Hawthorn and North Melbourne will also be involved at the 20,000 capacity venue.
The drop-in wicket at the ground has been used over the past fortnight for the Aussie 15s competition, in which Ponting was part of the opening night.
General admission tickets will be $10 for adults and $2 for children 6 to 15, seats will cost $15 for adults and $7 for 6 to 15s.
All funds raised will go to the Ponting Foundation for distribution back into the Tasmanian health care system, to help Tasmanians and their families beat cancer.
Launceston Mayor Albert van Zetten yesterday said the match was shaping up to be a "spectacular event" for Tasmania.
"This will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for cricket fans, and all for a fantastic cause" he said.
"These tickets will make an ideal Christmas present this year, and I expect demand will be strong."
Launceston's Ticketmaster outlet is the Theatre North office at 57 Brisbane Street.
