A western NSW town has cost a woman a shot at $100,000 on a TV game show.
Victorian primary education student and nanny Kirsten Laurie-Rhodes was faced with a question that featured Bourke as one of the four possible answers when she came face-to-face with host Eddie McGuire on WIN TV's Millionaire Hot Seat.
The host asked, "Which of these New South Wales towns lies furthest inland?"
Ms Laurie-Rhodes was faced with having to choose from Tumut, Muswellbrook, Glen Innes and Bourke.
As she considered her answer, she ruled out Glen Innes, saying it sounded "slightly coastal".
She told the host she had "no idea at all" and that her answer would be a guess.
She incorrectly guessed Muswellbrook.
Mr McGuire asked if she had ever heard of the term "back o' Bourke", because "Bourke's in the middle of nowhere".
"No" she replied, before another contestant replaced her in the hot seat.
