Ladder-leader Central Coast has won nine of its past 12 games and will be hard to beat today if McBreen's form continues.
He has scored a club record 12 goals already this season and scored twice in the 2-2 draw with Victory the last time the teams met at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne.
``He's on fire. But it's not just his goals but (also) his work rate,'' Mariners coach Graham Arnold said this week.
``He works so hard physically - and he's a handful to deal with when he's in this type of form.''
Third-placed Victory trails the Mariners by seven points.
At the other end the Mariners' tight defence has conceded just 10 goals from 15 matches and will have to be at its best against Victory, which has not been held goalless since round 2.
Victory coach Ange Postecoglou said the Mariners' defence was a strength but his side's focus was on the other end of the pitch.
``We've scored more goals than any other side in the league, and it's a challenge of the best attack in the league against the best defence - usually they're good encounters.''
