Balym said Clint Moore was out for the season after injuring his knee during last week's game, with another three players under an "injury cloud".
"Last time we played ACL, it was a pretty close game, so we're expecting it to be again this week," Balym said.
"Batting has been our strength so we will be looking to improve our bowling this week, it's really let us down."
ACL captain-coach Scott Bennett said he was just hoping for an improvement when his side hosted Hadspen, after ACL was bowled out for 65 in an "embarrassing" game against Trevallyn last week.
"We're not a strong side, we're just after improvement and they're a good team, they've got a good batting side," Bennett said.
TREVALLYN captain-coach Damian Whybrow said he was expecting a tough game when hosted by Beauty Point.
"It's always tough down there, but we beat them in our last game two weeks ago so I think we have got a good chance ... we just need to improve on batting because we got bowled out for 118 against them last time," Whybrow said.
He said premiership player Josh Walker would return after three years' break from the club, and Lewis Bordin would play his first A-grade game.
LEGANA captain-coach Andy Gower said his side "had to win" its game against the Diggers at Hagley.
Gower said the team was disappointed after its 53-run loss to Longford last week and needed to score heavily.
"We played the Diggers a couple of weeks ago and scored in the last over, so it should be a close game again this week," Gower said.
DIGGERS captain-coach Brent Kettle said Legana's batting strength would present a challenge to his team's bowlers, but he was optimistic about their chances of a win.
"Over the last month we've been really good all round with batting, bowling and fielding, so hopefully that will serve us well in Saturday's game," Kettle said.
"We also have Dave Tulloch, Dave Swain and Shaun Brown coming in this week - the first two are returning from injury and it's Shaun's debut in the A grade, so that should strengthen the batting side."
