Greater Northern Raiders set for CTPL Twenty20 final

A North Hobart side swept aside twice by the Raiders on Sunday is likely to welcome back Australian internationals Nicola Carey, Molly Strano and Naomi Stalenberg for Sunday's Twenty20 final at Bellerive Oval.

But Raiders coach Darren Simmonds and his close-knit team are using this as motivation.

"They are good players, no doubt and we respect their ability but you can get caught up in the opposition, we have to take care of what we do," he said.

"It's a chance to create our own history.

"We missed out in last year's one-day final but we acquitted ourselves really well that day and were just beaten by a couple of good individual performances by Clarence players.

"North Hobart will have some significant inclusions but if we take care of ourselves, we're in a good position to win."

Raiders welcome back captain Sasha Moloney from her WBBL commitments but Hurricane teammates Corinne Hall has an injured calf, Ruth Johnston wanted to play but has Queensland commitments and Belinda Vakarewa will be subject to a late fitness test.

"We're playing consistently good cricket at the moment," Simmonds added.

"We came back after that long break knowing it would be interesting how our form would be but it's actually improved since then.

"We've been consistent with our batting with four scores around 140 runs without losing many wickets, so there have been some really strong partnerships with the bat, and we've been bowling really well as a group led by Sophie Parkin and Hannah Magor.

"When you put all that together, we've got to go down there with confidence in how we're playing and see if we can get a result.

"It's just pleasing to see an improvement among the players and we just want to continue with that and see where it takes us."
