Modern nursing, aged care and disability training facilities have been unveiled as part of the first stage of the upgrades of TasTAFE's Alanvale campus.

This week construction tenders will be sought for the first stage of the development, which is being done as part of a consolidation of TasTAFE offerings in Launceston and Northern Tasmania.

A total of $4 million will be injected into the Alanvale site over the next 12 months and all students will move from the CBD site to Alanvale by the end of 2020.
Education Minister Jeremy Rockliff said the new facilities would ensure TasTAFE graduates were job-ready and provide real-world scenarios for students.

"We know our investment is working, with TasTAFE receiving seven years re-registration from the national training regulator, and being re-accredited to deliver nursing by the national nursing training body," he said.
Last year, it was revealed TasTAFE would consolidate its operations to Alanvale and abandon its CBD site.
Initially, it was planned that all students would relocate to Alanvale for the 2020 school year.

However, in December, TasTAFE chief executive Jenny Dodd said the relocation of students would now be staged between January and July 2020, to minimise disruption.
TasTAFE students based at Drysdale Launceston and Inveresk campus will remain at these campuses.
A vital component of the new redevelopment will be the nursing and aged care simulation rooms.
"These fit-for-purpose spaces will align with the latest industry standards, and have been designed to resemble Tasmanian hospital wards and aged care facilities," Mr Rockliff said.

Nursing is based from the CBD site but there have been conversations between TasTAFE and the University of Tasmania to co-locate some of its nursing components from UTAS' new Inveresk campus.
The nursing building of the UTAS campus is part of the third stage of the build, located at the Willis St section of the precinct.
Other key aspects of the Alanvale redevelopment will include:
- an expanded library/learning hub facility for students
- a new student lounge, cafe and other student amenities to provide a centralised hub for students.
- room upgrades
- additional on-campus parking.
The campus has been designed by ARTAS Architects, who was appointed last year.
Construction tenders will close in early March, with construction planned for April.
