There were 14 teams from different schools taking part in the competition, which aims to encourage children to think beyond the words by studying six different texts.
Texts studied this year were Parvana, The Last Elephant, Storm Boy, The Legend of Spud Murphy, Meet Banjo Paterson and Help Around the House.
As well as completing quizzes on the texts, pupils were required to compose a creative response to one of the books highlighting its themes.

This response could be done in a number of ways including through dance, song or through a slideshow.
About 400 children took part in the cup.
Readers' Cup northern coordinator Anne Donnelly said it was great to see the varied and intuitive responses children came up with.
"They're really creative children," she said.
