A 28-year-old Longford woman was charged with drunk and disorderly behaviour about 5.45pm.
She was detained at Launceston Police station for the remainder of the afternoon due to her level of intoxication.
Police had warned they would be out in force and Inspector Darren Hopkins said given the size of the crowds, he was happy with behaviour.
“It has been a good day and overall I would say police are really happy with how everyone has gotten on,” he said.
“It was good to see many people making the most of the marquees and making sure they were consuming plenty of food.”
Police also performed 1806 random breath tests on the East Tamar Highway at Mowbray, with three drivers charged for exceeding the legal blood alcohol limit.
More than 16,000 people are estimated to have attended Wednesday’s races.
