Stages one to three of the Poimena to Bay of Fires MTB trail and car park will be realigned if proposed changes are approved by the Break O'Day Council.
The first sod was officially turned on the trail in March, and is being constructed by international trail builders World Trail.
The planning submission - put together by Rebecca Green and Associates on behalf of the council - said problems had arisen since works had gotten underway.
It said a walking track to the summit of Mt Poimena was popular with Blue Tier riders as a warm-up, and the number of car parks and pick up and drop off areas was not large enough for the number of vehicles using the area.

The best way to resolve the issue was to reconfigure the trails and and include a new car park and visitor area, it said.
A proposed change was to have a separate trail for mountain bike riders toward the summit of the mountain, which would connect with the existing Blue Tier trail and new Poimena to Bay of Fires trail, "effectively becoming the start for both of these trails".
The changes would affect sections one to three, with sections four to eight not impacted.
Section one would start at the new car park at Poimena and traverse around the mountain in an anti-clockwise direction. A completely new section of trail was proposed, with an estimated length of 2.33km.
Section two would begin at the intersection of the Blue Tier and Poimena to Bay of Fires trail. The new alignment would be off Sun Flats Road for the entirety, with an estimated length of 2.64km.
Section three would also start at the intersection of the Blue Tier and Poimena to Bay of Fires trail, providing a link to the beginning of the aforementioned trail, with an estimated length of 0.27km.
A new trail is proposed to start at the northern end of the Mt Poimena Walking Track, heading south to link with the existing Blue Tier trail.
The changes would create a new entry point into the Blue Tier.
Visit bodc.tas.gov.au for more details. The proposed changes will be advertised by the council until 5pm, June 7.
