If she’s not putting in three days of gymnastics training in Hobart, she’s up North turning out for Launceston City or Queechy Penguins in the hockey or bashing out a 5k at Parkrun.
Or, on the odd occasion, cheerleading at a Tornadoes game.
It’s a big list of sporting pursuits, and one that can’t be separated at the top, where gymnastics and hockey hold equal pride of place.
“It sort of depends on the one I’m doing at the time,” the 15-year-old said.
“If I’m doing one more (than the other) then that’ll be my favourite, but if I stop doing that, the other one will be my favourite.”
Earlier this year the Riverside High School student represented the North in the under-15s intrastate hockey challenge.
Next month she will travel to Bendigo to represent Tasmania in Gymnastics Australia’s national club carnival.
Beament said while her two pet sports were considerably different, they did share some transferable skills.
“Flexibility is quite helpful in hockey because you need to reach and tackle and stuff like that, and I get a lot of strength from hockey and gymnastics which help each other.
“I get most of my cardio from hockey, but gymnastics has a lot of skipping.”
How to make a nomination
Australia’s former Test captain Ricky Ponting will be guest of honour at The Examiner’s IGA Junior Sports Awards presentation night at Country Club Tasmania on November 1.
The Examiner has made it as easy as possible to nominate candidates for the six categories which include male and female individual sportsperson, male and female rising star and junior sports team.
This year’s awards will also include the Ricky Ponting Award, which honours individuals who routinely give up their own time in order for youngsters to enjoy playing sport.
