Organiser Katy Pakinga, who together with Rhea Gillie and Bec Nicholson make up the Rock On With Your Frock On team, said the event was one of many taking place across the country this month.
“(Frocktober) is the major fundraiser for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation throughout the year, so there’s women and men supporting this all over Australia at the moment,” Miss Pakinga said.
Miss Pakinga said the team would continue its fundraising efforts until it reached the five-figure target.
“Ovarian cancer is one of the few cancers that are undetectable throughout a test,” Miss Pakinga said.
“Basically the money we raise goes into medical research to hopefully get a test to get it early, because if people are diagnosed they're pretty much terminal, there are no early detection tests as of yet.”
