On Sunday, Falls Festival organisers announced "with a heavy heart" via Facebook that the Victorian event had been cancelled.

"We have had to cancel the remaining days of the Falls Festival in Lorne due to the predicted extreme weather conditions forecast for Monday, December 30th in the Otways and surrounding region, creating a risk to health and safety due to potential fires, smoke, severe winds and tree hazards," the post read.

It was stressed that the Marion Bay, Byron Bay and Fremantle events would still be going ahead and that people with Lorne tickets would receive a full refund.

Secret Service Public Relations director Stacey Piggott, who handles PR for Falls, said there were a handful of tickets still available for the Marion Bay event, which kicked off on Sunday.

It's not clear how many people could head to Marion Bay instead, in the wake of the Lorne cancellation.

"We understand there is a significant distance between [the Lorne and Marion Bay] events so we are not sure exactly how many people will make that logistical change," Ms Piggott said.

"At this stage patrons need to get a refund on their Lorne ticket and purchase [tickets] to any other event that they are keen to attend."

A fire warning has been issued for all of Tasmania today, barring the North-West forecast district, with daytime temperatures expected to reach a maximum of 39 degrees in the South-East of the state.

Meanwhile, Tasmania Police has warned Falls Festival patrons against engaging in anti-social behaviour over the course of the three-day event.

"The risk of anti-social behaviour is higher when a large group of people gather for a music festival, particularly when alcohol or drugs are consumed," Senior Sergeant Brenda Orr said. "I urge anyone drinking alcohol to do so responsibly."
