Presented by the Australian Financial Review, 29 Tasmanian restaurants have been named in the award’s top 500 list – three more than last year.
The awards celebrate the best of Australian dining at all levels, with the list compiled by national reviewers, restaurant guide editors and industry experts.
This year Launceston restaurants Geronimo, Black Cow Bistro, Mudbar, Novaro’s, Timbre and Stillwater were all named in the top 500 list.
Geronimo owner Jeremy Kode said the recognition was a “great honour”.
“It’s always really fantastic to see Tasmanian restaurants being recognised at a national level,” he said.
“It is a great way to show that Launceston restaurants are at the same level of excellence when it comes to food.”
Voting for the awards is carried out by Australia’s top chefs and restaurateurs, with the winners announced at a gala event in late June.
At last year’s awards, Hobart restaurant Franklin was named Tasmania’s best, with Templo also named in the top 100 list.
