The AFL told Fairfax Media on February 21 that McLachlan would not be visiting Tasmania until after the state election, which was held on Saturday.
A further request made on Monday to the league for an update on his movements went unanswered.
McLachlan’s pending visit comes after AFL Tasmania chief executive Trisha Squires wrote to him asking the AFL to reassess the Future Directions of Tasmanian Football report and its recommendations in regards to the State League and the talent pathway, as well as form a working group into the game here.
North-West football leaders and Richmond great Matthew Richardson have said they would like to see him visit the region after Burnie and Devonport withdrew from the State League, which put the state’s football woes in the spotlight and prompted Squires’ invitation.
