A development application, lodged with the Northern Midlands Council, details plans to build a new visitor centre, and use the existing centre as the distillery.
“The distillery is simply requiring more storage,” the application, by Rebecca Green and Associates said.
The cellar door will have a dedicated tasting counter, store and cool room.
The development would allow the cellar to possibly open seven days a week.
“The visitor center is essentially a reception area with information to visitors of the public, relating to whisky, gin, rum and other beverages produced at the facility,” the proposal said.
The distilling process may take up to 12 hours to complete, but the application said it was a silent process.
“There is no audible noise outside the premises, except some forklift movements … having minimal or no impact or disturbance with neighbours,” it said.
A 24-lot car park is also proposed, but the expansion is not expected to create any further vehicle movements.
The distillery is currently operating at the site which is owned by Bernard Einoder.
Adams Distillery, run by Adam Saunders and Adam Pinkard, was officially opened in November 2016.
The site was visited by international whisky blogger, Holly Seidewand, who described their unaged whiskey as “the best she has ever had”.
The development application is open for comment until March 19.
