The brewers will use the hops in a special beer throughout the year, owner Will Tatchell said.
About 40 of Mr Tatchell’s friends and family helped with the picking at Evandale, with a side of sausages and “a few beers”.
“It’s just an opportunity to educate people where beer ingredients come from,” he said.
“It’s a euphemism for what beer is – it’s a social ingredient.”
Some of the picked hops will be used on Monday, to make a “fresh hop” beer for Launceston’s Fresh Hop Beer Festival next month.
The remainder will be dried out and used throughout the year, Mr Tatchell said.
