Exeter Show Society public officer Sharon Hjort said the show’s first pet parade proved popular, with dogs and a snail making an appearance on the catwalk.
The equestrian events attracted entries from around the state, Ms Hjort said.
It started as an apple producers show decades ago, but expanded its activities after the apple export market dried up in the 1980s, she said.
“Now we’ve got a lot of friendly rivalry between residents for the best vegetables.”
All the funds raised would go towards improving the showgrounds, insurance and maintenance, she said.
