That was the promise from Bass Liberal MHA Sarah Courtney this week.
Centre executive officer Jodie Johnson said the Kings Meadows group had flagged the entrance as a safety issue for some time.
There is no clear entrance from the adjacent car park, forcing people to walk along a busy road to enter the premises.
“It was first brought to my attention when Toll Tasmania told me about a near miss with a young fellow,” Ms Johnson said.
“With the councils help initial plans [for the new entry] were submitted, but costs rose out of control.
“Hopefully in two months we should be on the way.”
The new youth program would see the YMCA partner with schools and community groups to create integrated leadership initiatives.
“We’ve got some amazing young leaders in our community,” YMCA staff member Alison Filgate said.
“[The program] is important, because it means our future leaders can belong to something and have a reason to be able to be able to stand up and achieve in our learning process.
“It is also about bringing other schools and potential leaders together to build rapport within schools.”
Ms Courtney said she had a personal relationship with the YMCA.
“I've had a great time participating in a wide range of events here and the environment the staff have created is so incredibly welcoming,” she said.
