The Launceston Night Market manager informed the community via a Facebook post the market, scheduled for February 23, had been cancelled due to “very wet” weather.
The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting Launceston will receive eight to 15 millimetres of rain on Friday.
Light winds are expected to become north to north-westerly in the late afternoon, reaching a maximum of 20 km/h.
“We greatly appreciate the enthusiasm and interest that everyone has shown towards the event ,” the Facebook post said.
The next Launceston Night Market is scheduled for March 16.
Launcestonians will need their raincoat over the weekend with wet weather predicted on Saturday and Sunday.
There’s a 90 per cent chance of rain on Saturday, with a maximum of 20mm predicted. Light north to north-westerly winds will reach a maximum of 40 km/h on Saturday morning and will ease into the evening.
A maximum of 25 degrees was predicted for Saturday.
Sunday will be cooler with a maximum of 21 degrees. There is a slight chance of rain, with light winds during the day.
