The eyes of BMX clubs across Australia will be on Launceston in October, as a round of the national series is held at the St Leonards track.

Preparations for the event were given a boost on Saturday, with Labor pledging $10,000 in funding for the facility.
The money would allow the Launceston BMX Club to build a to build a roof over the starting area, as well as resurface the berms and start hill.
Speaking ahead of the club’s twilight meet on the weekend, registrar Luke Digney said it would bring the track closer to an “international standard.”

“More importantly, it gives us a chance to spruik our facility on a national level when conversations about upcoming events are happening.”
More than 200 riders and spectators are expected to attend October’s competition.
Deputy Opposition Leader Michelle O’Byrne said the funding announcement was made with more than just the club’s immediate future in mind.
“It’s about participation and engagement, while also growing an event strategy,” Ms O’Byrne said.
