Tasmania Police officer charged over firearms

A police officer has been charged over unregistered guns.

The 57-year-old from the Southern District was charged with possession of an unregistered firearm and failing to take all precautions to ensure the safe keeping of a firearm.

It is understood the officer had three firearms in a private home. 

He is expected to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on March 9.
