Tigers Models and Hobbies will close its doors on Saturday, February 24 after more than 25 years within the community.
Owners Helen and Hans Wanders have been operating the store for the past 14 years and made the decision to retire after the latter’s recent health issues.
The retail outlet has been on the market since March 2017, firstly via social media and then through the listings of two agents.
To date, no offers have been received for the purchase of the business.
In a statement, the pair thanked the staff of the store, and also paid tribute to the wider community for its support.
“At a recent meeting of the management team, it was reluctantly been decided to close the business,” Mr and Mrs Wanders wrote.
“The owners are particularly appreciative of the work undertaken by the business manager, D’Wayne Leonard.
“We were novices in the hobby industry when they purchased the business and have learned a lot from him.
“The management are disappointed that they have been unable to provide continuity of the business.
“We have, over the 14 years, made friends of many of our customers and we will certainly miss them.
“To all our customers, we would like to say sincere thanks.”
Normal trading will continue until 3pm on Saturday, February 24.
The www.tigermodels.com.au website will still be available once the store closes.
In addition to the sale of normal trading stock, all shop fittings, shelving, cadenzas, display materials and cabinets will be offered for sale.
Some of these may not be available for collection until after trading ceases.
