Under phase three of the corporation’s Statistics for the Australian Grains Industry (SAGI) program, four research nodes will be built across Australia to deliver high quality statistical science for research projects.
The $18 million SAGI-3 investment over the next five years will support rapid advances in crop varieties, agronomic knowledge and farming practices, managing director Dr Steve Jefferies said.
“This significant investment will increase the national grains industry’s capacity in the area of biometrics – the application of statistics to biological data – which is incredibly important in ensuring that grains research is statistically sound and credible,” Dr Jefferies said.
SAGI South, covering Tasmania, South Australia and Victoria, will be led by the University of Adelaide.
