The Tamar Tigers’ choice to field first away from home had the Bulldogs licking their lips all the way to 182 when they were dismissed with one over to spare.
Danny Bennett continued his tremendous touch with 48 and had minor support from Mark Cooper (31) and Harry Johns (18), while Joe Bodis collected 3-42, Rob Crane 2-14 and Jason Savage 2-29 from their eight overs.
Beauty Point started positively, losing its first wicket for 46 and then Savage (46) for 70 in the 12th over.
From there, the Point lost 8-87 – mainly due to figures of 7-21 from Cressy captain-coach Damian Whybrow. The victory puts Cressy them three-points clear of Beauty Point, who has dropped to third.
FIFTH-PLACED ACL has pretty much dashed Legana’s finals chances with an important seven-wicket win at Legana Oval.
The Durhams won the toss and were bowled in 32 overs for 161 with Wayne Ford top scoring with 49 and Jeremy Robinson working his way to 28. Bluebacks captain-coach John Kedey picked up 3-33, while Drew Clark (2-22) and Sean Barry (2-27) gave the opposition something to think about.
ACL’s response was near perfect as Clark (64 not out), Shaun Woods (27) and Kedey (31) led their team comfortably to 3-163 in 29 overs.
Nathan Van Noord was Legana’s best bowler with 1-19.
ACL is now two points behind Hadspen in the finals race, while Legana almost three wins behind.
HADSPEN was overwhelmed to a 125-run tune on its home ground by undefeated reigning champions Longford.
Opener Jason Snare made the most of his Premier League call up in leading the Country Tigers to 5-287 from its 40 overs.
Snare posted 101 before Matt Tidey had him stumped in the 36th over, while opening partner Shannon Rumbel (33), Dilan Sandagirigoda (44) and Jackson Blair (56 not out) made significant contributions throughout.
The Chieftains bowling card made for some poor reading with all seven bowlers copping some unwanted treatment.
Needing more than seven runs an over for victory, Hadspen was 2-0 with Nathan Balym and Damian Woods back in the changerooms just four overs into its reply.
A 96-run partnership between skipper Liam Reynolds and Alan Eadie put the hosts back on track, which had them 2-79 at the halfway mark. Hadspen was 3-96 with 15 overs to roll, before an almighty collapse saw it lose 6-43 only to end up 9-162 at the match’s end.
Rob Moore (3-33) and Brett Martin (3-26) were effective in Longford’s 14th TCL win of the season.
