Performances from West Tamar Municipal Band and the St Andrews Caledonian Pipe Band were mixed in with free City Park train rides and the House of Bounce.
More than 300 people sat and relaxed in the grounds surrounding the Rotunda for the event, which will run throughout January on Sunday.
City of Launceston community and development project officer Sarah McCormack said the atmosphere of the sessions was always a big drawcard.
“It’s just such an amazing time of the year to hold an event like this,” she said.
“To activate City Park in this way is a great thing to do, and it’s always such an inclusive event.
“The House of Bounce and the free train rides make it a really nice family ev.”
Music in the Park will continue on January 14 with the debut performance from Launceston band The Fergusons.
