Launceston Tornadoes will welcome back 2016 MVP Ally Wilson to the club for this season – the first major signing under new coach Derrick Washington.

The 23-year-old sat out last year’s SEABL season to return home to spend time with family and friends in South Australia.

The forward averages 12.7 points, 4.2 rebound and 2.9 assists per game with WNBL side Sydney Flames and represented Australia at the World University Games in Almaty, Kazakhstan, last year.

During her MVP year she averaged 20 points, six rebounds and two assists per game.

It will be Wilson’s fourth for the Torns having lined-up for the reigning two-time SEABL Southern conference runners-up in 2014, 2015 and 2016.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my three seasons in Launceston and it has become like a second home to me – I just can’t wait to get down there and get started,” she said.

Tornadoes chairwoman Janie Finlay said more signings would be announced in coming weeks with a try-out for Tasmanian players scheduled for January 11 at Elphin Sports Centre.

The Torns’ 2018 campaign will begin in early April with the full SEABL schedule to be released in mid-January.
