A 63-year-old man has been caught driving with a blood alcohol reading of nearly five times the legal limit at Turners Beach on Saturday evening.

After receiving information from a member of the public, Tasmania Police intercepted the Devonport man on the Esplanade about 6.45pm, where he returned a positive reading.
Police took the man into custody for breath analysis, and he gave a reading of 0.231.
Police discovered the man was already a disqualified driver and had numerous prior convictions in relation to driving whilst under the influence.
The man was kept in custody to appear in court on Sunday, December 24.
Police seized his vehicle for an indefinite period due to his prior convictions.
Police are actively patrolling for traffic offences as part of Operation Crossroads during the Christmas and New Year holiday period.
Three P-platers were caught on the first day of the operation for speeding and drink driving offences.
