Monday will be the biggest parcel delivery day in Australia Post’s history, with over two-and-a-half million items set to pass through its networks.
Since early October, Australia Post has experienced unprecedented parcel volumes as consumers take advantage of pre-Christmas sales.
Australia Post Group Chief Operating Officer, Bob Black, said record parcel volumes are being processed through major sorting facilities across the country, with more people than ever before opting to have their Christmas gifts delivered to the door.
"We know Australians love online shopping and we will have our biggest ever parcel delivery day tomorrow, with over 2.5 million parcels expected through our network,” Mr Black said.
“Australians are shopping online more than ever, with an unprecedented growth rate of 15 per cent in the first half of 2017.
“Online shopping festivals like Click Frenzy and Black Friday have also proven to be extremely popular this year and we expect to be busy right up until Christmas.”

Mr Black said some of the biggest purchases online included homewares and appliances, toys, games and fashion.
Due to demand, Australia Post will be offering weekend parcel deliveries and extended trading hours.
As parcel processing facilities across the country continue to sort record volumes, customers are urged to lodge their parcels as soon as possible for delivery before Christmas.
