More than 40 Christmas songs will be preformed over three hours at City Park.
The annual event aims to donate all money raised to The Examiner’s Empty Stocking Appeal.
Carols by candlelight coordinator Danny Gibson said preparations were well-underway.
“The great thing about our carols by candlelight is that none of the performers get paid. They all give up their time in the spirit of Christmas,” Mr Gibson said.
Local talents, including Matthew Garwood and Travis Hennesey, will grace the stage.
“And we’re hoping a man in a red suit will too,” Mr Gibson said.
Organisers Rotary Club of Tamar Sunrise are hoping to raise about $20,000 for the appeal.
"Every dollar that comes through the gate – $5 for adults $3 for children less the cost of candles – gets donated to the appeal,” Mr Gibson said.
“Since we’ve been running the event, this is our fifth year, we’ve given almost $50,000 to The Examiner’s Empty Stocking Appeal.”
Mr Gibson said the rotary club chose to donate to the fundraiser because of its longevity.
“It’s more than 100 years old, and that means it’s got a proven track record of helping those that need it most,” he said.
“The four charities are reputable, they are recognised and everyone knows them and wants to help someone at Christmas because that’s the true spirit of Christmas.
“There are lots of people in Northern Tasmania doing it tough at Christmas time and by coming along we're helping those people.”
Organisers are expecting people to attend the event from all over the state.
“We’re hoping that some people from Hobart might make the trip north and celebrate with one large-scale outdoor event,” Mr Gibson said.
The carols will be held on Sunday, December 17 at City Park. The gates open at 5pm, with the carols starting from 7pm.
There are many ways you can support the 109th Empty Stocking Appeal.
Donations will go to the City Mission, The Salvation Army, The Benevolent Society and St Vincent De Pauls.
This year, the appeal hopes to raise $60,000.
More than $13,000 has already been raised.
