Holly Stearnes' pastel Nicola Finetti ensemble was declared the winning look, scoring the 23-year-old a spot in the highly sought after cup-fashion limelight.
The first-time Melbourne Cup race goer said she couldn't believe that she had won and almost didn't bother turning up.
"To be completely honest when I woke up this morning I thought I almost couldn't be bothered going," she said.
"Then when I got there all the other girls looked so lovely I thought I didn't stand a chance.
"I'm just from little old Tassie.
“It has just been so amazing."
Currently studying nutrition at Deakin University, Holly only recently moved to Melbourne and said the win was definitely a warm welcome.
This year's Melbourne Cup fashion was all about bold, beautiful colours, with pink proving to be a popular colour among race goers.
"I saw this dress online and thought I have to have it," Holly said.
"I didn't think I really fitted in with the bold colour theme cause my dress is pastels.
"When they called out my number as the winner I had to triple check it was really me."
Holly said her fascinator was the final touch to her outfit and was designed by one of her friends.
Aside from the glory, Holly's win has scored her more than $2500 worth of Myer vouchers as well as an exclusive accommodation package.
She said after this experience she will definitely be entering more fashion in the fields events.
