Police, a fire truck and an ambulance were at the scene of the Ravenswood crash, however the road has not been closed off.
No one else was involved in the crash.
Police at the scene said the skid marks showed the young driver had fishtailed around the corner and lost control of the car.
The car flipped onto its roof and into a wire fence at the side of Ravenswood Road.
The incident occurred about 8.30pm.
An officer at the scene said that while speed may have been a factor in the crash, he believed it was due to an inexperienced driver behind the wheel of a powerful V8 car.
Alcohol is not considered to be a factor in the crash.
Unlike other states, Tasmania has no restrictions on what cars probationary licence holders can drive.
