The bearded warrior Robert McMullen took the torch to Ian ‘Lumpy’ Edwards in his 26 to 13 win, Stuart Groom putting on a superb leads performance.
The Adam Gurr rink was never headed all day with Gurr playing some telling weighted shots that were bigger hits than The Beatles.
Corey Bowerman played an outstanding role in the two spot to set up the win with Will Springer and Damien Lewis solid all day.
The Aaron Page rink had a tight tussle with Turtle Churchill, eventually getting over the line by three.
Victor Goss was keen to impress against his old side and was brilliant all day but the front half combination of ‘Sugar’ Kane Stewart and Sam Springer were the difference.
“We are a shaping up to be a pretty stable side this year with great leaders who can and will help steer the club to success,” Sam Springer said after the game.
“East has a great family environment and we love our Saturdays.”
Invermay has overcome a huge scare from Cosgrove Park to remain in second spot on the ladder.
After a promising start by The Swampies, who jumped to more than a 10-shot advantage early in the game, Cosgrove fought back to lead by 10 at the break.
The Park continued their momentum after the break to lead by as much as 20 overall before Invermay turned up the heat.
Gene Ayton’s rink led the recovery mission by winning the last nine ends and picking up 21 shots in the process.
This was all thanks to an exceptional front end display by Chris Direen and Debbie Lee.
Mark Illingworth’s rink also contributed late with a 30-22-shot win putting the overall win beyond doubt.
John Seaton was able to salvage two points for the home side with a 27-20 rink win over Rebecca Van Asch.
After playing the first two rounds of the season on synthetic, the reigning state champion North Launceston was up and about against Longford, back on their home turf.
Longford had a day they would rather forget, showing few glimpses of their best team performance.
At the halfway mark in the game North were 18-7 up on all three scoreboards, a margin too much for Longford to chase.
Andrew Whitmore and David Minns got their troops firing, both skippers finishing their day with 14-shot rinks wins.
Tim Douce was pleased to once again enjoy the good grass greens of North, overcoming Daniel Baker by eight.
Trevallyn was able to secure another 12 points thanks to their win at Beauty Point, showing they are once again solid competitors with their young side.
Bridport was able to get their season back on track with success on all rinks against opponents Kings Meadows.
