Instead, West Tamar Arts Group vice chair Hilary Keeley said people would hear a variety of music presented in five different concerts across three weekends.
It was the second Sound Experience – Music in the Churches series to be held following a successful set of concerts two years ago, Keeley said.
“Churches are amazing places to sing because of the acoustics,” Keeley said.
People might not be used to going into churches, but the quality and variety of the Tasmanian talent on show was “very exciting”.
Launching on Sunday, five concerts will be presented over three weekends between October 14 and 28.
Performance coordinator Susie Clarke said she chose Tasmanian talent for the concert series to give local artists the opportunity to get experience as well as showcasing seasoned performers, such as the Tattooed Tenor Matthew Garwood.
People could expect to hear rock, Baroque and opera songs alongside musical and jazz numbers, Clarke said.
“Please come support it and experience it.”
