Tyla Justin Ray Goebel,19, pleaded guilty in the Launceston Magistrates Court on Monday to nine counts of destroying property.
Police Prosecutor, Senior Constable Sarina Morrell, told the court Goebel’s rampage had begun about 4.15am on March 25 this year.
Goebel smashed nine windows at businesses across the city using a bottle, brick, drain cover and an unknown item.
Businesses including Birchalls, Country Road, Centreway Arcade, Roberts Real Estate, Launceston Mensland and Jailhouse Grill were damaged.
The cost of replacing the windows ranged from $200 to $6000.
Magistrate Sharon Cure demanded the teenager explain his actions, to which Goebel said he was drunk after drinking “a bit of everything” at the pub earlier.
“I’m really sorry,” he added.
Ms Cure described Goebel’s “destroying property spree” as “completely pointless and it’s going to stay with you for a long time”. She said there was “no benefit” to loading fines and ordered the Ravenswood man to complete 70 hours of community service to “give something back” to the community.
Goebel was also ordered to pay about $18,000 in restitution and a conviction was recorded.
“It’s inexplicable you would go on this rampage,” Ms Cure added.
